IGS, in association with SRK Exploration, presented at a seminar on de-risking exploration on 24th November. The event was attended by representatives from major and junior exploration companies, investment advisors, geological software providers, and others interested in exploration.

Talks focused in different areas of exploration, from the quantification of geological risk, to latest innovations in exploration, to the importance in understanding societal and personnel risk on exploration projects.

The event was well received, provoking lively discussion and debate, and was a useful opportunity to understand the perceptions of risk and to discuss mitigation strategies where possible. For example, the use of prospectivity analysis at an early stage of exploration was highlighted in order to understand areas of high mineralisation potential for various mineral deposit types.
