IGS attends National Mining Summit in Nigeria

IGS recently attended the National Mining Summit held in Abuja, Nigeria, speaking in a panel discussion on the importance of acquiring and managing geodata to aid in mineral exploration. The event was well attended by government and private companies and was opened by the Acting President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and closed by the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Abubakar Bawa Bwari.

The event was a chance for delegates to discuss the challenges of developing the mining industry in Nigeria and west Africa, as well as hearing from experts and other African geological surveys with challenges they were facing.

IGS looks forward to strengthening our contacts in Nigeria and west Africa, and to helping the Nigerian government fulfil its wish of sustainably managing and developing the Nigerian mining industry.
